About Will It Care

Will It Care answers the hardest question a family asks — is this facility safe for someone I love? — using the government's own inspection record, and gives the answer the industry's referral sites won't: sometimes, avoid this one.

The problem with the usual sites

The high-traffic senior-care sites are paid by facilities — typically thousands of dollars per placed resident. They are built to fill beds, which is why inspection records, abuse findings, and fines are so hard to find there. Care Compare has the raw truth but buries it in footnotes and PDFs. Nobody in the middle was willing to just say it plainly.

What we are

  • A verdict engine. 14,695 facilities scored 0–100 from inspections, staffing, and penalties, bucketed into Recommended / Caution / Avoid by a published formula.
  • An early-warning system. Save facilities to a shortlist and we email you when a new serious citation appears — free.
  • A preparation tool. The tour checklist and the paid Safety Report exist to make you the most prepared person in the admissions office.

How we make money — and how we don't

Families buy Safety Reports ($19). Families who believe a loved one was harmed can ask us to connect them with vetted elder-abuse attorneys, who pay a flat advertising fee. That's it. We take no money from facilities for placement, and the verdict is computed before any transaction exists. No one can pay to change a score.

What about assisted living?

Assisted-living-only communities aren't federally inspected, so there is no CMS record for us to score — and we won't invent one. If you're vetting assisted living: request the last two state licensing-inspection reports (every state has them, most are online), call your long-term-care ombudsman about complaints on file, and use our tour checklist — nearly all of it applies.

Who's behind this

Will It Care is built by Al-Hallak Technologies, an independent studio building honest consumer tools on public data — including Will It Car (used-car reliability) and ParentRecallWatch (children's product recalls).
